Abstract

The aim of the following article is to analyze the influence that the educational proposal of Gorki summer camp (URSS, 19201928), directed by Antón Makárenko, had in the creation of Zumerland summer camp and its pedagogical project (Argentina, 1950 - present). Driven by the ICUF movement, Zumerland grew as a non-formal educational experience. From a Marxist standpoint, it sought to contribute to the task of shaping individuáis who worked towards an egalitarian social order. The continuous alignment between the ICUF and the URSS and its consolidation as from thefifties served as a supportfor the inflow of pedagogical and political ideas. It was because of that communication channel that educators and referents from the ICUF, who were noticeable members of the Argentinian Communist Party, became receptors ofthe Soviet pedagogy. From a set of sources, such as Makárenko’s The Pedagogical Poem, registers of activity in Zumerland, interviews, testimonies from main figures, and magazines published by the ICUF at that time, it is intended to rebuild a histórical dialogue between the experiences, considering that, although the projects occurred at a different time and place in history, Gorki was a source of inspiration for the teachers from the ICUF to devise their own pedagogic program.
