Abstract

AYUSO, María Luz  and  LANDESMAN, Gabriela. La propuesta pedagógica para la formación de maestros en la primera Escuela Normal de Profesores de Buenos Aires: ensayos, iniciativas y convicciones de Adolfo Van Gelderen, su primer director (1874-1890). Hist. educ. anu. [online]. 2019, vol.20, n.2, pp.1-10. ISSN 2313-9277.

The normalismo was one of the main educational policies The present paper aims to present a pedagogical proposal for teachers' formation developed by the director of the teachers College. Adolfo Van Gelderen, between 1874 and 1890, based on Working with the school's documentary sources allowed us to analyze the various proposals presented and tested by the first Director of the Escuela Normal de Profesores to carry out what he considered a model school and solve the obstacles that werepresent in the first years of its operation, within the framework of the conformation of the National State. We believe that the period of creation of a state bureaucracy allowed a greater autonomy to the directors of the existing teachers colleges regarding how to train them. In this sense, our hypothesis about the autonomy of the principals of the first teacher's colleges is nourished by characterizing the era of the late twentieth century as a time of pedagogical exploration for teacher training. This does notprevent thinking of the practices of the Escuela Normal de Profesores as necessary experiences for the configuration of the Nation State. In other words, the autonomy that marked the first years of work at the Escuela Normal de Profesores was reconfigured to the extent that the state bureaucracy was organized and expanded, regarding teacher training policies. In this sense, the conduction of Van Gelderen in the Escuela Normal de Profesores was marked by two periods: one of greater autonomy in the general decisions of the formation and the direction of the school, and one of lesser autonomy. Regarding the research methodology, we opted for a qualitative analysis, with instances of work on archives and the analysis of documentary sources, among which, some documents produced in the first years after the creation of the Escuela Normal de Profesores stand out , i. e., the School Bylaws (1877); the director's reports to the President of the Board of Education of the Province of Buenos Aires (prior to the federalization of Buenos Aires) and to the Minister of Justice, Worship and Public Instruction; the notes of the Copier Books; the curriculum for training, among others; and diverse readings, from the field of the history of education, teacher training and institutional analysis.

Keywords : Teachers training, teachers college, pedagogical proposals, Van Gelderen, formation of the argentine State.
