Abstract
MORA, Víctor Guijarro and LASTRA, Leonor González de la. Cultura material, educación y política.La promoción de valores democráticos en la enseñanza de la Segunda República española y la pedagogía del objeto manipulable y desmontable. Hist. educ. anu. This study focuses on two factors that decisively influenced thepolitical orientation that the culture of manipulatives and simple objects acquired in the educational centres in the Spanish Second Republic. On the one hand, the vision of education that certaininfluential intellectuals had in the republican education policy, such as Lorenzo Luzuriaga, whose pedagogical and political ideals contributed to legitimize certain educational practices within the classroom, in particular those that required the use of construction kits, whosepurpose was the acquisition of social values. On the other, the interpretation that the educational resources manufacturers and suppliers made of these materials and of active learning methodologies, reproducing the slogans of participatory classrooms and facilitating as mediators the insertion of values together with standardized products in spaces of consumption and formal education. Finally, the contribution examines these practices and visions within the contexts of use of the period considered.
