Abstract

CATTANEO, Daniela  and  BLANC, María Claudina. La imagen y el museo. Espacios educativos y redes culturales a partir del Museo Municipal de Bellas Artes «Juan. B. Castagnino» (1937-1946). Hist. educ. anu. [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.2, pp.61-70. ISSN 2313-9277.

This work reflects, from educational, cultural and architectural history, on visual technologies from the

contextualization and analysis of different strategies carried out around the Municipal Museum of Fine Arts «Juan B. Castagnino» (MC) in Rosario city, Argentina and in the consequent searches to expand the limits of action in the public sphere. The MC, which was from its concretion one of the most representative cultural and intellectual spaces of the city, is the first museum built in Argentina within the parameters of modern architecture. It was designed by Hilarión Hernández Larguía and Juan Manuel Newton architect and directed by the first one from its inauguration in 1937 until its intervention in 1946. The museum modern conception as a spacefor social bonding, culture dissemination and learning is in the design genesis and accompanies the entire Hernández Larguia’s management. The museum understood as visual technology is addressed in three dimensions -urban, spatial and territorial- in- search of the linkage and impacts of their internal logics beyond their walls. All of them are structured by the particularities of the Rosario cultural and political environment and by a sustained pedagogical earch which is contextualized in the networks of this architect, among which special attention is paid here to the figure of Olga Cossettini and the experience of the Serena School.
