Abstract

RAGGIO, Sandra María. What do young people do to the past? New generations and memory policies. Hist. educ. anu. [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.2, pp.14-28.  Epub Aug 01, 2023. ISSN 2313-9277.  http://dx.doi.org/10.51438/2313-9277.2023.24.2.e004.

This article tackles the forms of appropriation of the recent past by new generations through the analysis of a corpus composed of productions made by youth groups from different localities of the province of Buenos Aires, performed within the framework of the Jóvenes y Memoria program organized by the CPM since the year 2002. The goal is to demonstrate that the transmission of the past to the new generations is not limited to the teaching of history or a legacy of lessons, but that it is possible for new generations to establish themselves as active subjects in the process of elaboration of past experiences. These re-elaborations pick up stories, protagonists and pieces of the past that are not part of the canonical memories that are prominent in the public sphere and in school.
