Abstract

VICTORY, Solange. Historical constellations in Juan Villoro: between "Cristeros" and "Zapatistas". CELEHIS [online]. 2019, n.37, pp.1-9. ISSN 2313-9463.

This essay will aim to analyze Villoro's interpretation of his country's history by focusing on four key-moments that the texts appear to consider important to their national context. In order to provide an interpretation of these events, the author overlaps them in hermeneutical pairs. They are, on the one hand, the Cristeros War and the war between drug cartels; and, on the other hand, the Tlatelolco Massacre in 1968 and the 1994 Zapatista uprising. The first pair will be explained through the analysis of El testigo (2004). Regarding the joint 1968-1994, we will work with a corpus of  chronicles and essays from the anthology Espejo retrovisor (2013). We would like to demonstrate how Villoro's work is structured around a structured around a concept of writing defined by the complementary coordinates of anachronism and uprooting.

Keywords : Juan Villoro; Cristeros War; Zapatismo; anachronism; uprooting..
