Abstract

QUINTANA, Isabel. Devourers of history. CELEHIS [online]. 2020, n.39, pp.31-40. ISSN 2313-9463.

In my work I analyze the figure of the French Revolution from Roland Barthes's Michelet and Peter Greenaway's films. I see the ways in which they build a reading machine that thrives on bodies, fluids, eschatology, books and archive. The revolutionary time is of rupture and inauguration of something different but it is also agonizing in its becoming. Bodies experience it as an explosion and culture is presented as an uninterrupted continuity between the raw and the cooked.

Keywords : Time; French Revolution; archive; bodies; remains.
