Abstract

ABIDI, Yakoub. Comparative study of experimentalism on the main characters of Michel Butor's The Modification and Julio Cortázar's Rayuela. CELEHIS [online]. 2020, n.40, pp.90-99. ISSN 2313-9463.

This article proposes a comparative study on the treatment of characters in the vanguardist experimental literary art by examining the relationships between the main characters in The modification (1957) by Michel Butor and Hopscotch (1963) by Julio Cortázar, without forgetting the relationship of these characters with the narrative set of both novels, and with the new literary trend of those years, the Nouveau Roman (New Novel). To summarize, this comparative tries to provide a vision of the development of the narrative during the fifties and early sixties of the twentieth century, through the detection of its experimental manifestations in each of the main characters of the aforementioned novels.

Keywords : Michel Butor; Julio Cortázar; comparativeliterature; new novel; vanguardism.
