Abstract

TAUBER, Guadalupe Sobrón. Love in front of madness and death: discursive matrices in Elisio's monologue in Amarilis. Eclogue by Lope de Vega. CELEHIS [online]. 2021, n.41, pp.71-80. ISSN 2313-9463.

Amarilis is an eclogue belonging to the last period of Lope de Vega's production. The following article focuses on Elisio's speech, with the aim of glimpsing the way in which the discursive matrices of the poetic subject and the object of enunciation are consolidated, around the linguistic and ideological treatments of the Renaissance and the Spanish Baroque. At the same time, emphasis is placed on how the text allows establishing a multiplicity of generic crosses with the elegy, the theater and the biographical fiction that are favored by the structure of the eclogue. In this sense, a complex textual framework is revealed both at the semantic and conceptual level -the presentation of the love discourse- and structurally -the rhetorical and generic variations. This is how the construction mechanisms of a baroque lyrical speaker are glimpsed who, on the one hand, elaborates the loss and de-idealization of the beloved, and who, on the other, supports a hopeful love conception.

Keywords : Lope de Vega, dramatic eclogue; elegy; Spanish Golden Age; love.
