Abstract

YULN, Melina. Una historia de fronteras: El territorio y los relatos culturales de la frontera en la construcción nacional de Argentina, Brasil y Estados Unidos. Pampa [online]. 2010, n.6, pp.231-244. ISSN 2314-0208.

The three cases relate to countries whose territorial expansion is the basis of their national states and the formation of the idea of nation. But there are two critical looks highly developed -in the case of United States and Brazil-, that through cultural narratives about the frontier, build the nation’s hypothesis in their respective countries. This work is part of a thesis that is still in development stage. With the objective of building a “standpoint” for understanding the frontier and from which to approach the Argentine case, this part of the research will focus on the historiographical overview of the frontier’s discussion from the hypothesis of F.J. Turner and Sergio Buarque de Holanda.

Keywords : Frontier; Frontier tesis; Territory; Nation; Identity.
