Abstract

This paper discusses in two parts (I and II) some of the dimensions that make the territorial development and spatial inequalities in the mexican State of Yucatan (Mexico). The proposal consists of a construct that allows to observe and explain the existence of two types of inequality: in the first instance, the yucatanense development territorial inequality with respect to social and economic development of other regions of Mexico. Second, inequality and socio-economic exclusion in the state of Yucatan that is observed from an exodus of rural space, which previously focused mainly a population of henequeneros ejidatarios, and subsequently gave occupation to a number of maquiladoras them, today is evident in certain urban spaces such as Merida and its metropolitan area.
