Governance and regional governance ideas have rise in importance on debates on state reform and have paved the way to revise the relation between state and civil society. However, the outcomes of the governance dynamics have not always been promising and the staging of it weaknesses of the governance approach have most of the time been pushed into the background not just within public administration debates but also on economic analysis on local and regional development. That so, the paper aim to revise some of the weaknesses or pending issues of the governance approach on regional development based on the description of critic situations on empirical analysis which will allow revising some of the theoretical ground of the regional governance. The paper goes in the direction to re-theorize the regional governance in harmony with the (national) state in order to reinforce regional development.
