Abstract

ACSEBRUD, Ezequiel; BARRIOS GARCIA, Gonzalo  and  D'HERS, Victoria. Expansión del espacio urbano: Análisis de elementos conceptuales en el estudio de la Región Metropolitana de Buenos Aires. Pampa [online]. 2015, n.12, pp.217-239. ISSN 2314-0208.

The expansion of the urban space in Buenos Aires features the study of the so called Buenos Aires Metropolitan Region (BAMR) as its privileged unit. This name emerges in 1990's and refers to the acknowledgment of its process of growth beyond which was usually referred to as Gran Buenos Aires. Considering the presence of a multiplicity of dimensions and processes implied in it, the analysis of the BAMR can be problematic. In this sense, we consider that the territorial dimension, since it summarizes the complex relationship between society and nature, plays a key role in order to understand the processes related to this region expansion. So, identifying the categories used for its study becomes central in order to comprehend the main notions that support the interpretations of the territorial metamorphosis. The aim of this paper is to display the diverse perspectives used to identifying the articulations between the multiple processes linked to the region. We hereby distinguish: the analytical categories utilized, the processes which are underlined as determinants of the region's transformations, and the causal relationships established between categories and process by the different authors.

Keywords : Metropolitan Region; Urban space; Territory.
