Abstract

CONTE DE FORNES, Beatriz. Tiempos de cambios vertiginosos: El proceso político ecuatoriano (1808-1822). Rev. hist. am. argent. [online]. 2012, vol.47, n.2. ISSN 2314-1549 .

The aim this work is to analyze the political radicalization process that occurred between 1808 and 1822 in the Audiencia of Quito, today Ecuador, closely related to the peninsular situation and under the Spanish American revolutionary movement. Specifically, it seeks to understand if the juntista movement unleashed in response to the crisis of the monarchy was mainly based on the Spanish legal tradition. Few years later, the nascent state appealed to modern principles, causing a substantial change in the existing political order. The contributions collected by historians through time are used to understand this process.

Keywords : Ecuador; Tradition; Modernity; Revolution.
