With this investigation we will attempt to reconstruct some detailed aspects on the institutional organization of the Movimiento Popular Neuquino, precisely, mechanisms of candidate selection since the party's foundation. We refer to the MPN as a party, aspect that remained overshadow because of the importance on the provincial leader and his family. The influence of the charismatic leadership of Felipe Sapag on the construction of MPN, and on his role as Neuquen´s governor, results undeniable. However, this recognized influence of the charismatic leadership doesn´t denies questions about internal functioning of the leading group and the party, its transformations and the causes of permanence of its members. In the same way, we decided to observe practices produced and reproduced from the leading group refered to the institutional mechanisms of candidate selection.
