Abstract
CALDERON DE CUERVO, Elena. LA TÓPICA DEL SOBREPUJAMIENTO EN LAS RELACIONES HISTORIOGRÁFICAS DE LA CONQUISTA. Rev. hist. am. argent. [online]. 2014, vol.49, n.1. ISSN 2314-1549 .
The numerous quantity of texts, letters, stories, and relations that narrate the Conquest of America in the Seventeenth Century are abundant in descriptions of people, places and events. These descriptions are conditioned by a series of conventions and literary topics that represent a reality that did not match an equivalent until much later in time. It can be affirmed that the sobrepujamiento, overpushing, is one of the most frequent topics in the Literature written during the Conquest Period, considering Literature in its broadest sense. Sobrepujamiento is the Spanish term for übertung, already confirmed by Curtius in his study on latin literature of the Medieval Europe. Its repeated enumeration accounts for the high standard of the use of rhetoric that was present in the historiographical relationships in the New World.
Keywords : Historiography of the Indies; Rhetoric; Overpushing.
