The work reviews the different versions about the withdrawal of the Grl. Justo José de Urquiza from the battlefield of Pavón, in 1861. It is interpreted that the serious financial problem of the Confederation, as a consequence of the application of the Alberdian recipe against Mariano Fragueiro's proposal, was crucial for this defeat.
