This qualitative study of explanatory character and case study aimed to verify what kind of contact the participants had with dance and dance therapy throughout their lives and to investigate whether participation in a virtual continuing education course was able to provoke new perceptions regarding the development of dance therapy in the most diverse contexts of performance. For data collection, a semi-open questionnaire and a focus group were used. To analyze the data, Bardin (2016) content analysis was used, which allowed the elaboration of four categories to discuss the results. It was found that, despite the participants having knowledge about dance and dance therapy, not all experienced them in practice. The course had a positive impact on the participants in terms of language knowledge and also transformed their views on the possibilities of working with dance and especially with dance therapy.
