The objective of this study is to analyze the composition, organization and history of the Argentine shipowners' association at a time of its consolidation and commercial heydays (1890-1920), thus reconstructing the history of one of the key poles of maritime labor relations. From various documents (state, employers' and trade union) we discuss the business composition of the sector, its corporate organization and common practices, highlighting the company owned by Nicolás Mihanovich, which merits special attention due to by its economic and political dominance hmong national shipowners.
