Abstract

VISACOVSKY, Nerina. Una historia antifascista: Argentina, Brasil y la identidad icufista. Travesía (San Miguel de Tucumán) [online]. 2015, vol.17, n.1, pp.79-103. ISSN 2314-2707.

This article aims to compare the selfstyled Jews "progressive" from Argentina and Brazil, among the thirties to late sixties. They participated in socio-cultural, educational and sporting institutions that adhered to Idisher Cultur Farband (ICUF). In both countries, "icufista" identity it was built on an amalgam that combined idishista secular European acquis, the anti-fascist cause, the pro-Soviet communist ideology and a strong desire for social integration. Analyze how this identity has been constructed in the region allows not only rescue the story of a secular Jewish alternative to Zionism and linked to the Communist Party but also appreciate common and diferences characters in both countries.
