Abstract
VELUT, Sébastien. De la geografía de Argentina al Mundo: el singular itinerario de Pierre Denis. Travesía (San Miguel de Tucumán) [online]. 2016, vol.18, n.2, pp.55-75. ISSN 2314-2707.
The French geographer, Pierre Denis (1883-1951), one of Vidal de la Blache's pupils, wrote one of the first geographical studies of Argentina, based on field work he did between 1912 and 19&4 and published only after the First World War. Denis played subsequently an important role with Jean Monnet at the Society of the Nations and then in private business. During the Second World War, he was among the first who left France and went to England to become a member of the France Libre, under the authority of de Gaulle. In that position, Denis created the financial arrangements indispensable to sustain the war effort. In his numerous and diverse occupations, Denis always kept alive his geographical preoccupations. He was particularly interested in the way in which territories were being transformed by exchanges and technologies. He was also a careful observer of international relations. Although he did not let a systematic scientific work, his writings witness original views on the discipline.
