Abstract

During the first Peronism (1946-1955), the training of rural youth was seen as essential to improve the standard of living of the workers, establishing people in the countryside and increasing production. The training was directed to the specific economic characteristics of each zone, preparing the learner not only for personal progress but also for that of the region. In this context, we propose to study some technical-agricultural teaching experiences in the province of Mendoza (Argentina) in the middle of the XX century, specifically in the micro-region of the south and through an agricultural school of provincial jurisdiction such as the Fruticulture Technical School of San Rafael. We address the productive orientation it followed, the profile of its students, the possibilities of its operation, as well as the results obtained in the training of human resources. In addition, we seek to understand the role of the national government through its schools and other training forms.
