After its creation in 1956, INTA was one of the main institutions that managed the welfare of rural families, evidencing lines of continuity with previous government policies. The documentation of the first years suggests a certain institutional porosity resulting from the difficulties of extension workers in their daily practice, as well as the influence of their own values and knowledge and their willingness to carry out exchanges with local communities. Everything indicates that there was initiative and relative margin of autonomy in the social and geographical peripheries with respect to the metropolitan center.
