Abstract

KADERIAN, Santiago M.. Biotechnology and industria microbiology in Tucumán in the 1970s and 1980s: The advent of PROIMI. Travesía (San Miguel de Tucumán) [online]. 2020, vol.22, n.2, pp.125-143. ISSN 2314-2707.

This paper examines and analizes the advent of a scientific institution in Tucumán, Argentina: the Pilot Plant of Microbiological Industrial Processes (PROIMI), originally channelled to the biotechnology of industrial fermentation and microbiology. It proposes an initial discussion of the institution's conception and its context. The issues faced by its researchers and their practices are viewed through a survey of papers and texts produced by members of PROIMI, examined with methodology of textual analysis.
