Abstract

PRETTI, Javier; CLEMENTE, Aldana  and  CICONNE, Carlos Sebastián. Argentina’s position in connection with interna- tional terrorism at the UN General Assembly (1992-2017). Relac. int. [online]. 2018, vol.27, n.55, pp.177-196. ISSN 2314-2766.

Since the attacks perpetrated in the United States in 2001, international terror- ism has taken a central place in the external security agenda of Western countries. In Argentina, however, it is possible to trace this back to the attacks against the Embassy of Israel (1992) and the Mutual Association Israelite Argentina (AMIA-1994) in the early 1990s. This article analyzes, from a historical perspective, Argentina’s position in connec- tion with international terrorism in the context of the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization, from 1992 to the present. In this sense, this article investigates the following aspects, distinguishing four stages: the position of the Argentine political repre- sentatives in power, the identification of continuing and rupturing Argentine positions, and a possible structuring in the discourse of a national and State policy against this phenomenon.

Keywords : Argentina; International Terrorism; Un-Changes; Continuities.
