Abstract

ALTIERI, Mariana. New Dynamics of Naval Power in the 21st Centu- ry: Competition for Sea Control. Relac. int. [online]. 2018, vol.27, n.55, pp.197-212. ISSN 2314-2766.

This paper analyzes the dynamics of naval power in the international context of the 21st Century. It addresses how the competition for the rearrangement of global power between the statuquist and revisionist actors of the international system is re- flected in the dispute over the seas. It is argued that, the United States’ hegemonic naval power being on the decline and new naval power being on the rise, the maritime space has become the great fracture zone of the present.

Keywords : Sea Power; Statuquist; Revisionist; maritime environment; Global Commons; Rising States; A2/AD.
