Abstract

SOUZA, Rafaela Cristina Silva de  and  NASCIMENTO JUNIOR, Wanderley dos Reis. Narcoterrorismo e Neoliberalismo: Condicionamentos e (Re) enquadramentos do Conflito Social Colombiano. Relac. int. [online]. 2021, vol.30, n.61, pp.123-137. ISSN 2314-2766.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.24215/23142766e138.

This article aims at reflecting upon the relationship between foreign policy and national development strategies within the context of neoliberal economic globalization. We will seek to understand the relationship between the internationalization of the Colombian armed social conflict, external conditionalities, and the established development project. It is concluded that the so-called Plan Colombia, under US financial and military assistance, provided the conditions for a neoliberal development model supported by a project for the militarization of society which successive governments continued. Finally, we will reflect on the intrinsic relationship between neoliberalism and militarism, and its implications for an inclusive and sustainable peace project.

Keywords : Plan Colombia; Neoliberalism; Foreign policy; Militarization; Development strategy.
