Climate change constitutes a global threat with local effects in States around the world. One of the main consequences of the phe-nomenon, is the increasing frequency and intensity of extreme climate episodes, and in our country we can emphasize floods and heat waves. In first place, the present paper proposes a study of these extreme episodes from the perspective of environmental law and environmental public policies, taking into account the main ideas of the United Nations Fra-mework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the scientific conclusions of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Secondly, a descriptive analysis is done and some conclusions are drawn in relation to the main environmental public policies that were formulated and implemented by our Nation, which represent examples of climate change mitigation and adaptation plans.
