Abstract

ESCUDERO COLOMAR, L.A.. Control methods for Drosophila suzukii (Matsumura) (Diptera: Drosophilidae); a new pest of fruit that is spreading worldwide. Rev. agron. noroeste arg. [online]. 2016, vol.36, n.1, pp.19-31. ISSN 0080-2069.

Drosophila suzukii (Diptera: Drosophilidae), is an invasive pest with a great economic impact on the production of soft fruits. Its control is compulsory, since it can cause serious damage to production. The population monitoring and the use of predictive models of its development are the starting point of any control program. Currently, insecticides are the main used method, although several other possibilities are in development. The combination of all of them will allow the design of an integrated pest management program for each of the affected crops. In this article, the available knowledge so far on monitoring, predictive models, insecticides, entomopathogens, biological control, traps and attractants, repellents, cultural control and postharvest treatments is reviewed.

Keywords : Spotted wing Drosophila; Monitoring; Predictive models; Chemical control; Biological control; Attractant; Trap; Cultural control; Integrated pest management.
