Abstract

CANTEROS, F.H.; PARRADO, J.D.  and  ARAGON, R.E.. Cuatero INTA, a new maize cultivar (Zea mays L.) for subtropical Argentina. Rev. agron. noroeste arg. [online]. 2021, vol.41, n.2, pp.85-92.  Epub Apr 13, 2022. ISSN 0080-2069.

Corn crops play an important role in the agricultural sustainability of the northwestern region in the Argentine Republic (NOA region). This work presents the open-pollinated variety Cuatero INTA, a new cultivar which can be recommended for subtropical regions in Argentina, north of the 30° LS parallel, due to its high adaptation levels, yield potential (8,000 kg/ha), low seed cost, and tolerance to heat and diseases typical of the region. Indeed, this cultivar could cover the needs of both small farmers and producers in marginal areas.

Keywords : Maize; Subtropic; Open pollination variety.
