Abstract

COLOTTI, Maria  and  SUA¡REZ, Guillermo. Contributions to the knowledge to the genus Physcomitrium (Bryophyta, Funariaceae) in the Northwest of Argentina. Lilloa [online]. 2022, vol.59, n.2, pp.235-245. ISSN 0075-9481.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.30550/10.30550/j.lil/2022.59.2/2022.10.25.

In this work the range of distribution of the Physcomitrium genus in the Northwest of Argentina is updated. The treatment includes the taxonomic review of three species reported for the area: P. lorentzii, P. subsphaericum and P. thieleanum. They are characterized by symmetrical and erect capsules, cupulate to urceolate and gymnostomous, inmersed or exerted and mitrate calyptra. Two taxonomic keys are proposed, one to the genera of Funariaceae ocurring in the Neotropics and in Argentina and the other to the species herein treated. Descriptions, illustrations and distribution maps are provided for the latter species.

Keywords : Argentina; Bryophyta; gymnostomous capsule; taxonomy.
