Abstract

JUA¡REZ, Martín. New record of Ipheion uniflorum (Amaryllidaceae, Allioideae) in Santa Fe province, Argentina. Lilloa [online]. 2022, vol.59, n.2, pp.277-284. ISSN 0075-9481.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.30550/j.lil/2022.59.2/2022.11.22.

Ipheion uniflorum (Amaryllidaceae, Allioideae) is a geophyte endemic to the Pampas in Argentina, Uruguay and southern Brazil, and one of the most cultivated and well-known South American ornamental bulbous plants in the world. Its distribution in Argentina is registered especially in the province of Buenos Aires. The objective of this work is to present the first record of this species in the General Lopez department, south of the Santa Fe province, where the occurrence of I. uniflorum was observed at the end of the winter of 2021 and 2022 in remnants of natural grasslands. The specimens were photographed and described. This report also contributes to a novel taxon for this province.

Keywords : Bulbous geophyte; Pampas region; South America.
