Abstract

Pleurozium quitense (Hylocomiaceae), a species endemic to the Tropical Andes, is reported for the first time in Argentina. In the present work, the species is de- scribed and illustrated. Some data on its distribution and ecology are provided. The species is compared with P. schreberi, the related species recorded in the south of the country.
