MIRAS, Marta. The Architecture´s photos: Buenos Aires in the 1900´s. An. Inst. Arte Am. Investig. Estét. Mario J. Buschiazzo [online]. 2011, vol.41, n.1, pp.71-86. ISSN 2362-2024.

This text explores the diversity of architectural programs that can be deduced from the production of Buenos Aires images. Specially, reviews pictures exhibited or published, in order to study the historic city in their physical and social environment, attempting to account for the aspects with which modernity emerged in the local scene. It is considered that te deep renovation that took place in the architectural parameters found a wide expression in the building business. The study of photographic practices decodes some of the appropriation and evaluation modes. In another level of observation, these visual sources have allowed to know the sequence progress of some works, their forms and uses, and also to recover the image of those that no longer exist in the material world.

Keywords : Institutional architecture; History of photography; Public space; Buenos Aires.
