Abstract

PARERA, Cecilia. Public architecture y state technicians: consolidation of architecture as a State domain in Argentina, 1930-1943. An. Inst. Arte Am. Investig. Estét. Mario J. Buschiazzo [online]. 2012, vol.42, n.2, pp.139-154. ISSN 2362-2024.

This paper aims to develop the problematic nodes around the consolidation of architecture as a legitimized profession in the context of national technical occupations between 1930 and 1943. To his end, the conceptual lines that define the interpretation of "ideas in politics" will be provided, the government and the disciplinary/corporate perspective that enable to understand architecture as a "State domain" will be raised, and the framework of technification of the Argentine bureaucratic apparatus that allowed the creation of specialized professions -in which architects, as qualified technicians, reached a major role- will be presented. The hypothesis considers that the years under study constitute a turning point in the interference of architecture as a scientific and professional field in the Government structure in charge of public architecture.

Keywords : Architecture; Public architecture; State domain; State technical professions.
