Abstract

BUITRAGO TRUJILLO, Juan Camilo  and  DA COSTA BRAGA, Marcos. From modern architecture to industrial design: some ideas about a migration attempt of the modern Latin American project´s utopia. An. Inst. Arte Am. Investig. Estét. Mario J. Buschiazzo [online]. 2013, vol.43, n.2, pp.-. ISSN 2362-2024.

This paper is intended to present some Latin American architect´s possible ideas, who were educated during the 50´s and 60´s decades, to point out the crisis of modern architecture. These ideas may have been one of their biggest bases on creating a new perspective for a field of a new relatively discipline in 60´s and 70´s decades of the 20th. century: the industrial design. Their goal was to reach those promises that Modern Architecture couldn´t get. Unconscious on their speeches, these ideas of crisis that we try to present on this writing, strengthened the arguments to Industrial Design´s creation and consolidation in Latin America.

Keywords : History of Design; Design in Latin America; Architecture in Latin America; Design as field.
