Abstract

TOMASI, Jorge  and  BARADA, Julieta. Beyond (and closer to) a courtyard. The multiple conceptions of domestic architecture, emerging from a participatory design (Rinconada, province of Jujuy). An. Inst. Arte Am. Investig. Estét. Mario J. Buschiazzo [online]. 2023, vol.53, n.1, pp.9-9. ISSN 2362-2024.

Participatory design strategies have been under discussion for many decades within the discipline, in the framework of a review of the actions of professionals in their interaction with diverse social collectives for an architectural production that arises from processes that are more symmetrical. This article proposes an approach to these discussions from a project developed with the Community of Rinconada, in the puna of the province of Jujuy, of a housing prototype, from an ethnographic approach. From this, two different architectural configurations emerged, associated with different ways of inhabiting, which, nevertheless, were not constituted as antagonistic resolutions. It is precisely in the emerging dialogue between them that it is possible to problematize how different conceptions of architecture are interwoven in the emergence of the meanings, ways of inhabiting and productions of the local communities.

Keywords : Domestic architecture; prototype; puna; participatory design; Argentina; XXIst Century.
