ZAMLER, Daiana. Alcance de la asignatura Proyecto para la formación y el ejercicio profesional de los arquitectos. AyP contin. [online]. 2023, vol.10, n.18, pp.5-5. ISSN 2362-6089. http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.35305/23626097v10i18.376.
This paper reflects on the relationship between the role of the architect and his training for the professional practice. The main goal has been to question the scope of the subjects of Design in architecture education. To do so, the first task has been to review the origin of the discipline. Then, a core question has been introduced on each section along with the analysis of the ideas of different authors to provide a theoretical-critical revision. This has allowed to address more specific questions concerning the professional training such as: (i) Which kind of professional is nowadays intended? (ii) When developing the academic plan, are the diverse possible professional roles included? (iii) Is it only the designer’s role considered, thereby leaving aside the social role he may play? In this case, (iv) What kind of designer is envisaged or shaped?
This reflection seeks to deal with the interests involved in design-making and what architects are expected to do. In addition, it encourages to ask if it is possible to develop an architecture for the common good. This implies the consideration of multiple factors that make education more complex while debating between the contextual situation and the institutional framework.
