Abstract

MOLINA, Alicia Bernal  and  ALARCON, Miguel Molina. Postdramatic Theatre and Live Arts. Bol. estét. [online]. 2022, n.59, pp.21-30. ISSN 2408-4417.  http://dx.doi.org/10.36446/be.2022.59.275.

In the specific field of the critic of scenic practices in Spain, the term “Live Arts” hasstarted to be used widely in recent years to refer to a series of practices previouslyincluded under the heading of “Postdramatic Theater”. In this context, the purpose ofthe present paper is to analyze the theoretical debate around this terminologicaldisplacement, of great relevance both from an academic point of view and from the perspective of artistic creation itself. In order to achieve this, the argument put forward here starts from the definition of “theater” offered by Hans-Tier Lehman in Postdramatisches Theater and then discriminates its points of contact and divergencewith the practices traditionally included under the term Live Arts, in an itinerary aimedat relocating and defending the legitimacy of the expression “postdramatic theater”.
