In a context of political democracy and economic exclusion or marginalization, insecurity leaves place to authoritarian speeches and practices, which blame certain groups of people. This fact has its expressions in the urban space, which represents a rupture between the squared layouts’ democratic distribution. In this context, we aim to analyze social distances, territorially expressed, and its effects over interaction between different social classes, so as the role played by insecurity and fear of other, in Victoria (San Fernando). Employing qualitative methodology, based in neighborhood’s direct observation and semi-standardize interviews to different residents of Victoria, this work means an approach to an urban problem that represents a territorial expression of non-democratic and segregatory strategies, justified by insecurity.
