Abstract

ARIAS, Karla; CARRILLO-MALDONADO, Paul  and  TORRES-OLMEDO, Jeaneth. EVALUACIÓN DE LAS REFORMAS QUE IMPULSAN EL EMPLEO FORMAL. Estud. econ. [online]. 2022, vol.39, n.78, pp.33-59. ISSN 2525-1295.

The objective of this document is to determine the effect of the policies implemented between 2007 and 2018 to encourage formal employment in Ecuador. For this purpose, a local projection model is used with administrative data on registered employment. The results show that formal employment increases by 4% in the medium term, due to labor reforms. In addition, it is evident that the aggregate behavior is guided by the effect on large companies. These positive results are evidenced after the year of implementation, suggesting a degree of rigidity in boosting formal employment.
