Abstract

SACCO, Nicolás  and  RIVEIRO, Manuel. La Clasificación de Ocupaciones en el Sistema Estadístico Nacional. Estud. trab. [online]. 2016, n.51. ISSN 0327-5744.

The occupations classification is one of the most important dimensions for the analysis of social differentiation based on official secondary information. In Argentina, several changes occurred during the period 1980-2010 in terms of the classification systems of occupations. The objective of this article was to describe and evaluate, from the point of view of the user, this information and to observe correspondences between different classification systems, using the population censuses from 1980 to 2010 and the Permanent Survey of Households, of the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses. Comparisons within and between sources showed, in their general tendencies, similarities in occupational classifications. At the same time, the statistical offer based on occupational aggregates to observe social inequality showed serious limitations for a diachronic analysis.

Keywords : Occupation; National Classifier of Occupations; ISCO; Social inequality.
