The goal of the research is to understand the effects of the economic expansion and the changes in the social intervention of the state on the class structure in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area, specially, on the different sectors and strata of the working class. This article proposes a theoretical-methodological design to define social classes and to measure them through statistical sources. It situates their social-spatial distribution and measures their evolution during the period. In this framework, it deepens on their social differentiation, inquiring: the evolution of the so-called media class, the processes of social rebuilding of the formal working class and the crystallization of marginal positions.
