Abstract

CYUNEL, Victoria. Labor disputes and productive dynamics in the oil and gas extraction sector (Argentina, 2006-2015). Estud. trab. [online]. 2021, n.62, pp.1-24. ISSN 0327-5744.

The objective of this article is to describe the characteristics of the labor disputes in the hydrocarbon extraction sector between the years 2006-2015 in Argentina, and its connection with the particularities of the productive dynamics and the form of work organization in the sector. We start from the idea that productive dynamics’ particularities of the extractive sector (decentralization, subcontracting, presence of foreign companies, fluctuations in production levels and in oil and gas prices, among other aspects) influence the characteristics adopted by the labor disputes. The main source of information for this article is the “Base de Conflictos Laborales” produced by the Dirección de Estudios y Estadísticas de Relaciones de Trabajo del Ministerio de Trabajo, Empleo y Seguridad Social.

Keywords : Oil workers; Labor disputes; Productive dynamics; Oil and gas extraction.
