Abstract

VARGAS CASTRO, Ericka. Los marcadores discursivos y su traducción como rasgo de “oralidad fingida” en “cuentos de mi tía panchita” de carmen lyra. RASAL lingüíst. [online]. 2023, vol.2023, n.1, pp.79-108. ISSN 2618-3455.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.56683/rs231116.

This article is part of the research project “Fictional orality” in the translation of tales by Carmen Lyra, registered in the Institute of Linguistic Research of the University of Costa Rica under the number 745-C1-002. Following the characterization of spoken language proposed by Koch and Oesterreicher (2007 [1990]), this paper focuses on the pragmatic-textual scope of universal features, specifically on discursive markers to trace the construction of “fictional orality” and its translation in Tales from my Aunt Panchita by the Costa Rican writer Carmen Lyra. To do this, we created a list containing the discourse markers used in the source text and counted their frequency of appearance, classified the translation techniques used in the target text, and identified preferences regarding the translation method. Additionally, we broke down the various translation proposals of each of the marker types used in the Spanish text in order to assess their pragmatic effect.

Keywords : Carmen Lyra; “fictional orality”; discourse markers; translation techniques; translation methods.
