Abstract

LOPEZ GARCIA, María; SARTORI, María Florencia  and  BERESNAK, Marina. Una política lingüística para la Ciudad de Buenos Aires. Análisis de la Guía para la Inclusión de Alumnos Hablantes de Lenguas Distintas del Español en las Escuelas de la Ciudad. RASAL lingüíst. [online]. 2023, vol.2023, n.1, pp.183-199. ISSN 2618-3455.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.56683/rs231123.

The aim of this article is to analyze, from the glotopolitical perspective, a pioneering document in relation to linguistic policies in the City of Buenos Aires. This document, produced by the Gerencia Operativa de Lenguas en la Educación [Operational Management of Languages in Education] under the Ministry of Education of the City of Buenos Aires, and entitled Guía para la Inclusión de Alumnos Hablantes de Lenguas Distintas del Español en las Escuelas de la Ciudad [Guide for the Inclusion of Non-Spanish Speaking Students in City Schools], is part of a program initiated in 2017, with the objective of accompanying schools in working with populations that speak a language different from Spanish. Our work seeks to interpret the formulations and proposals in the document as operations developed by the Ministry to regulate the uses of languages in the school environment and, potentially, in the region. Therefore, the paper analyzes the ideas that, explicitly or implicitly, appear in the document regarding languages in general, as well as languages related to the school institution in particular.

Keywords : Buenos Aires linguistic policies; glotopolitics; languages in education; plurilingual classrooms.
