The incremental test (IT) allows us to measure the exercise capacity of both healthy and ill individuals. In our daily practice, we observe that children with cystic fibrosis or other chronic respiratory diseases display alterations in physical performance and fitness. Therefore, the IT allows us to explore the limiting factors of exercise, functionally monitor exercise tolerance, plan pulmonary rehabilitation programs, and assess prognosis and response to interventions. This study aims to describe the procedure to perform the IT.
