Abstract

TOMADIN, Romina et al. Psychometric properties of clinical performance measures to assess mobility in subjects with sequelae of traumatic brain injury. A systematic review and meta-analysis according to COSMIN. Argentinian j. respiratory physical therapy [online]. 2022, vol.4, n.3, pp.4-15. ISSN 2618-4095.  http://dx.doi.org/10.58172/ajrpt.v4i3.220.

Objective:

To identify and summarize the psychometric properties of clinical performance measures to assess mobility in subjects with traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Materials and method:

This study was a systematic review conducted according to the COSMIN guidelines and PRISMA statement. Inclusion criteria: studies published in any language and assessing mobility, performance, and psychometric properties in subjects diagnosed with TBI and aged over 15 years. Exclusion criteria: studies that included instruments measuring body structures and functions, self-reported measures, reports of cross-cultural adaptation only, and computerized assessments. PROSPERO registration: CRD42020161430.

Results:

Thirteen articles with a total of 9 tests were included. Reliability was high for the high-level mobility assessment tool (HiMAT). Measurement error was very high for the 10-meter walk test and the 6-minute walk test. Sensitivity to change, assessed in two articles, was very low. The revised HiMAT showed high internal consistency.

Conclusion:

The psychometric properties analyzed were reliability, internal consistency, measurement error, construct validity, content validity, and sensitivity to change. The first was the most frequently assessed. Based on the results obtained, we recommend the use of the HiMAT and revised HiMAT to assess mobility in subjects with TBI.
