Abstract

MASUELLO, Denise; MACHERO, Matías  and  D’AVERSA, Gonzalo Rodriguez. Evaluation of dynamic postural control of the lower limb through the Y Balance Test. Argentinian j. respiratory physical therapy [online]. 2023, vol.5, n.3, pp.50-53.  Epub Nov 01, 2023. ISSN 2618-4095.  http://dx.doi.org/10.58172/ajrpt.v5i3.282.

Lateral ankle sprain is the most prevalent injury in the physically active population. A deficit in dynamic postural control (DPC) is one of the consequences of this injury; therefore, its evaluation is required in the context of rehabilitation and return to sport. One of the recommended tools for the assessment is the Y Balance Test (YBT). Although various recommendations for its implementation have been reported, in this study, we will describe the evaluation of DPC of the lower limb using the YBT and offer suggestions for its standardized implementation.

Keywords : ankle injuries; postural balance; y balance test; lower extremity.
