Abstract
BRANDIZZI, Daniel et al. Where we are headed in oral health education in Latin America. Rev. Asoc. Odontol. Argent. [online]. 2023, vol.111, n.1, pp.1-1. ISSN 2683-7226. http://dx.doi.org/10.52979/raoa.1110401.1218.
A group of recognized scientific researchers and academics from various parts of the world had been working since March 2017 to try to improve the oral health of communities. The group members are: Newell W. Johnson (Australia and United Kingdom), Lois K. Cohen (United States of America), Richard Watt (United Kingdom), Gunnar Dahlen (Sweden), Alfonso Escobar (Colombia), Ole Fejerskov (Denmark) and Firoze Manji (Canada and Kenya). These experts have published the document “La Cascada Declaration” and have given conferences and facilitated discussions on the future of the dental profession in Colombia, Chile and Brazil, which are reflected in several published articles. Colleagues from Argentina, Chile and Uruguay have joined this discussion with the proposal of reflecting on these issues and work on the challenge of achieving oral health integrated with health with equality. This reflection is being published simultaneously in the Revista de la Asociación Odontológica Argentina, in the journal Odontoestomatología (publication of the School of Dentistry of the University of the Republic of Uruguay) and in the Revista Odontológica Científica Chilena (publication of the School of Dentistry of the University of Chile).
